Document Dated March 2006.
PCA: 14710 Site Code: 100131-47
BACKGROUND
Document Reviewed: In response to your verbal request, HERD has reviewed the
Draft Operable Unit 2 (OU2) Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA) Sampling and
Analysis Plan (SAP) for the Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin California, Sharpe
Site (DDJC-Sharpe), Lathrop, California. The document was prepared by URS Group
Incorporated (a contractor of US Army Corps of Engineers) and dated March 2006.
Location and Setting: DDJC-Sharpe is located on the eastern site of the Interstate 5
corridor between Stockton and Manteca. The site is essentially in a rectangular shape,
which encompasses over 7,000 acres. For management purposes, the site is divided
into two OUs. OW comprises the impacted groundwater underlying the site, while OU2
includes the soil above the water table. A Record of Decision (ROD) for OU2, which
was finalized in February 1996, addresses the comprehensive cleanup of the
unsaturated zone. A soil HHRA was performed in November 1994. Consequently, soil
remediation and response actions have been taken place at the site. Because of
® Printed on Recycled Paper
