Remedial Investigation Report -13- 8 March 1991
DDRW, Sharpe
RESPONSE
5. I concur with this recommendation. However, due to the elevated concentrations
of metals including cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel and zinc, the well samples
should also be analyzed for these constituents. We recommend that the analyses
include all of the metals listed i n Section 66699 of Title 22, so that the
analyses can be considered comprehensive. Arsenic may be deleted from t is list
if these wells have previously been analyzed for this constituent.
RECOMMENDATION
6. Wells 403A and 421A should be sampled and analyzed for DDT.
RESPONSE
6. I concur with this recommendation. The samples should also be analyzed for
Chlorodane because of the hazardous concentrations of this constituent in one of
the soil samples. In addition, the analyses for pesticides may need to be
expanded to include analysis for other pesticides than the Organochlorine
Pesticides (EPA Method 608) or Organohalide Pesticides (EPA Method 617), as both
of these methods will detect concentrations of DDT, DDE and DDD and Ch1 rodane.
RECOMMENDATION
7. Pumping from agricultural wells 6, 7, and 10 should be stopped as soon as
possible.
RESPONSE
7. I concur with this recommendation. However, Sharpe will have to provide an
alternative water supply unless other arrangements can be made to satisfy the
property owner.
CKW:cw
