We find the FS to be quite comprehensive with respect
to treatment technologies, however additional information must be included in
future drafts prior to our concurrence with the selected remedial measure for
the Central Area.
Enclosed is a memorandum which discusses the areas of the FS that need to be
revised or amended. The methodology for the installation of the extraction
wells needs to be revised and our concerns with the well design, placement and
pumping schemes need to be addressed. In addition, the FS reviewed only
limited number of disposal alternatives. We request that the FS consider the
reuse/recycle disposal alternatives and the associated benefits.
The Focused FS for the Central Area should be revised to incorporate our
concerns and comments. We suggest that we discuss specific proposals in the
FS with you and your consultants at the next Technical Review Committee
meeting.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916)361-5670.
CAMILLA WILLIAMS
Engineering Geologist
CKW:cw
Enclosures
cc: Mr. John Hamill , Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX, San
Francisco
Mr. Jim Pinasco.
