IV-STORAGE IN CONTAINERS <br /> A. WASTE IDENTIFICATION <br /> 1. Subject to the terms of this permit, the Permittee may store only <br /> those wastes designated in Section V of the Part B Application <br /> for storage at Buildings 530 and 605. [40 CFR 270.32(b) ] <br /> 2. The Permittee shall not store at Buildings 530 and 605 those <br /> wastes not identified in Section V of the Part B Application. <br /> [40 CFR 270.32(b)] <br /> B. CONDITION OF CONTAINERS <br /> The Permittee shall comply with 49 CFR 173 Subparts A, B, D, H and 0, <br /> as specified in Section VI of the Part B Application, for the types <br /> of containers used to store wastes, and in maintaining the condition <br /> of the containers. If a container holding hazardous waste is not in <br /> good condition (e.g. , severe rusting, apparent structural defects) or <br /> if it begins to leak, the Permittee shall transfer the hazardous <br /> waste from such container to a container that is in good condition or <br /> otherwise manage the waste in compliance with the conditions of this <br /> Permit. If waste must be transferred from a damaged container, the <br /> Permittee shall select a receiving container which is appropriate for <br /> the type of waste being transferred, as specified in Section VI of <br /> the Part B Application and as required by 40 CPR 264.171. [40 CFR <br /> 264.171] <br /> C. COMPATIBILITY OF WASTE WITH CONTAINERS <br /> The Permittee must use a container made of, or lined with materials <br /> which will not react with, and are otherwise compatible with the <br /> hazardous waste to be stored, so that the ability of the container to <br /> contain the waste is not impaired, as required by 40 CFR 264.172. <br /> [40 CFR 264.172] <br /> D. MANAGEMENT OF CONTAINERS <br /> The Permittee shall comply with the following management practices as <br /> required by 40 CFR 264.173: [40 CFR 264.173] <br /> 1. A container holding hazardous waste must always be closed during <br /> storage, except when it is necessary to add or remove waste. <br /> 2. A container holding hazardous waste must not be opened, handled <br /> or stored in a manner that may rupture the container or cause it <br /> to leak. <br /> E. CONTAINMENT <br /> The Permittee shall operate and maintain the container storage <br /> containment system in accordance with the requirements of 40 CFR <br /> 24 <br />
