Ms. Barbara Marcotte •
Page 5
result from long term inhalation of VOC's emanating from SHAD and
transported to the Valley Haven property from the environmental
contamination reported to date.
SUMMARY
The health risk assessment prepared by Kleinfelder for
consideration of a border zone determination by PEU for the
Valley Haven property at Lathrop, CA is thorough, accurate and
well written. As long as groundwater is not used at Valley Haven,
the health risk associated with the SHAD Superfund site does not
appear to represent a health hazard from inhalation of volatile
organic chemicals identified at SHAD and at Valley Haven.
TOX appreciates the chance to review the health risk assessment
for the Valley Haven site. Hopefully our review and comments will
assist PEU in making an informed decision regarding the border
zone determination.
cc: Richard Becker, Ph.D.
Staff Toxicologist
Allen Wolfenden, Chief
Technical Services Unit
