We are providing written
comments at this time because we understand that the period for informal review ended July 29, 1997.
We have serious concerns with the exposure to individual residents whose wells have been impacted by
volatile organic compounds. The residents in this area are not connected to a public water system and
therefore are dependent on groundwater for their drinking water.
The attached memo identifies our interpretation of the health risks associated with consumption of the
degraded ground water found in domestic residential wells neighboring the Sharpe facility.
Additionally, the memo outlines specific comments on the draft document.
If you have any questions, or wish to discuss this matter further, please call me at(916) 255-3051.
CORI CONDON
Associate Engineering Geologist
Enclosure
cc: Mr. John Guzman -DDRW Sharpe
Mr. Jim Pinasco -Dept. of Toxic Substances Control
Mr. Michael Wolfram -U.S EPA, Region IX
Mr. Steve Light- U.S. Army Corp of Engineers
Ms. Margaret Lagorio - San Joaquin County Public Health
