Currently, there is inadequate hydraulic control of the existing Tricholorethene
(TCE) plumes in one or more depth intervals in the South Balloon (SB), North
Balloon (NB), and the Central Area (CA). The comparison map visually presents
the accelerated offsite migration of the plumes west of the CA, northwest of the
NB and the development of a new plume west of the NB. Please discuss in the
Recommendations/Conclusions section what actions are necessary to help
ensure full hydraulic containment of the existing TCE plumes. In addition, please
discuss whether the modeling results indicate whether this accelerated migration
is due to the recent shutdown of the ten extraction wells that were considered
insignificant in hydraulic control of the TCE plumes.
2. Directly west of the CA, TCE in ground water appears to be ranging anywhere
from 500 to 1000 parts per billion (ppb). These higher concentrations have not
been seen in this particular area for approximately four years. Please indicate in
the report why this area appears to have significantly high TCE concentrations.
The energy challenge facing California is real. Every catifomian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption.
For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy costs, see our Web-site at www.dtsc.ca.gov.
8 Printed on Recycled Paper
