The summary report discusses the ongoing optimization
efforts at DDJC-Sharpe using focused groundwater extraction to accelerate the mass
removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in DDJC-Sharpe onsite groundwater in
the vicinity of monitoring wells (MWs) MW418C and MW437C, located in the North
Balloon and Central Area, respectively.
Monitoring wells MW418C and MW437C were selected for modification to become
temporary extraction wells due to the historically higher concentrations of contaminants
found in these wells in comparison to other DDJC-Sharpe monitoring wells. The
contaminant concentrations found in MW418C and MW437C were also greater than
those found in nearby extraction wells (EWs) EWC3 and EWCC1, making the MWs
candidates for focused groundwater extraction.
The focused groundwater extraction testing for both wells began in March 2005 and
lasted until the third quarter of 2007 for MW418C and finished at MW437C in
March 2007.
DTSC has reviewed the subject report and has the following comments:
9 Printed on Recycled Paper
