Review of the Revised Response to Comments on the
Draft OU 2 Human Health Risk Assessment
DDJC Sharpe Site
Lathrop, California
December 2006
REVIEW OF RESPONSE TO GENERAL COMMENTS
Review of Response to General Comment 1: The response to this comment appears to be
adequate. The response indicates that the requested information, including figures and analytical
results associated with previous characterization and/or confirmation studies will be included in
the revised sampling and analysis plan (SAP) and, hence, be made available to EPA.
Review of Response to General Comment 2: Based on the assumption that the supporting
figure and text will be included in the revised SAP and made available to EPA for review, the
response to this comment appears to be adequate.
Review of Response to General Comment 3: The response to this comment appears to be
adequately addressed. As requested in the response, the specific methodologies that will be
employed in estimating bulk soil concentrations have been outlined. That is, the response
specifically indicates the use of the Johnson and Ettinger vapor intrusion model to estimate
indoor air concentrations. Also, the response depicts the actual equation that will be used to
estimate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in bulk soil and outdoor air.
Review of Response to General Comment 4: Assuming that the trespasser youth scenario will
be added as a potential receptor in a revised conceptual site model, the response to this comment
is adequate.
REVIEW OF RESPONSE TO SPECIFIC COMMENTS
Review of Response to Specific Comment 1 (Section 1.4, paragraph 1.4.2, page 1-2)
Summary of Pertinent Site Data: With the understanding that the revised SAP will include the
previously requested Appendix B data, including figures and text, the response to this comment
appears to be adequate.
Review of Response to Specific Comment 2 (Section 1.4, paragraph 1.4.2, page 1-2)
Summary of Pertinent Site Data: The response to this comment appears to be adequate.
However, since the principal objective of the SAP is to ensure that sampling data collection
activities will be congruent with previous data collection activities performed at the site,
sufficient information to ascertain whether the SAP is concordant with previous site
investigations and/or sampling events should be provided.
