Ripon Unified School District
Subpart B
Requirements for Onshore Petroleum Oils
General Requirements 112.8 40 CFR 112.8(a)
Ripon Unified School District will operate in compliance with the requirements of Section
112.7, as outlined in this SPCC Plan, and the specific discharge, spill prevention and containment
procedures listed in Section 112.8 as set forth below.
Facility Drainage Diked Areas
40 CFR 112.8(b)(1) and (2) — diked areas
All drainage occurs through designed drainage plan. There is no drainage valve for each
of the oil product containment areas. All storm water is verified to be free of petroleum oil products
before being pumped out of containment.
Facility Drainage Undiked Areas
40 CFR 112.8(b)(3) and (4) — undiked areas
Ripon Unified School District does not utilize undiked areas within their fuel delivery into
their oil product storage tanks. All delivery drivers are certified and trained to control their
deliveries and mitigate any discharge. Ripon Unified School District will take responsibility for
any and all spills and ensure that the proper methods for clean-up are addressed.
Bulk Storage Containers 40 CFR 112.8(c)(1)
All of the oil product and fuel storage tanks are constructed of double wall concrete and
steel. All containers are made of appropriate materials for storing petroleum and vegetable oil
products under the variable climate temperatures of this region. The tank system is designed not
to create additional vacuum or pressure to the tank, other than the natural expansion and
contractions caused by ambient temperature changes on the product.
Capacity of the Secondary Containment Area 40 CFR 112.8(c)(2)
The secondary containment area must have the capacity to contain the entire volume of the
largest tank. This is addressed within this Plan at 40 CFR 112.7(a)(3)(iii), page 17. The 42 Diesel
and Gasoline tanks are Certified UL 2085 Double Wall ConVault fuel tanks with six inches of
concrete surrounding 10-gauge steel single wall fuel tanks.
Procedure to Address Precipitation within Secondary Containment
40 CFR 112.8(c)(3)
This is addressed in 40 CFR 112.7(a)(3)(iii), page 17.
Underground Pipe Corrosion Protection
There are no underground tanks or piping on site for the fuel oil products.
I
