Hanies
Environmental Program Manager
Sharpe Army Depot
Lathrop, CA 95331
Dear Mr. Haines:
In a letter dated 5 December 1988, you informed us that San
Joaquin CoGen Inc. proposed to purchase treated groundwater from
Sharpe's air stripping operation and requested approval from the
Department of Health Services (DHS) . Without further information
on this proposal, DHS supports and encourages this planned reuse
of treated groundwater at Sharpe Army Depot. We would like to
commend your office for securing such a beneficial use of the
treated groundwater which has become a scarce resource as more
discoveries of contamination are being made.
The 5 December letter is our only source of information on this
subject. Please keep us informed and provide us with additional
details you may have as Sharpe continues negotiation with San
Joaquin Cogen. Please address further comments on this matter to
Mr. David Wang of my staff at (916) 924-2137 .
Sincerely,
Anthony J. Landis, Chief
Site Mitigation Unit
cc: (See Page 2)
