TABLE II-2 <br /> PROCEDURES FOR <br /> MINIMIZATION OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION <br /> 1. Ensure good operating procedures are followed during the handling, <br /> storage, and transport of hazardous material. <br /> 2. Non-compatible materials will be handled separately to ensure that they <br /> do not come into contact with each other causing one or more of the following <br /> reactions. <br /> a. Fire <br /> b. Explosion <br /> c. Toxic Vapor Emissions <br /> d. Increase Hazard State <br /> e. Increase Toxicity State <br /> 3. Minimize the quantities of highly flamable or explosive materials. <br /> 4. Inspect emergency equipment daily (alarms, lights, water system, <br /> eyewashes, showers, respirators, clothing, etc. ) . <br /> 5. Inspect facility accumulation areas, hazmat storage areas, and operating <br /> areas daily (working days) . The following items will be checked. <br /> a. Container integrity (leakage) <br /> b. Container decay <br /> c. Fire safety <br /> d. Compatibility <br /> e. Safe placement <br /> f. Worker safety <br /> 6. Inspection report will be submitted to Sharpe' s Environmental Protection <br /> Office. <br /> 7. Discrepancies will be anotated in the inspection report. <br /> II-16 <br /> (10/23/90) <br />
