' Drilling and well construction will adhere to California Well Standards as established by the <br /> California Department of Water Resources (DWR Bulletin 74-90) As appropriate, RWQCB guidance <br /> will also be used Required permits from the County of San Joaquin will be obtained prior to <br /> drilling A California state registered geologist or California state professional engineer will <br /> ' supervise drilling, sampling, and well construction A qualified geologist, soil scientist, or engineer <br /> will log each borehole from core samples and drill cuttings Lithologic logs will be prepared using <br /> ' the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) <br /> ' Drill cuttings, well development water, and decontamination water will be stored in <br /> Department of Transportation (DOT) 17H 55-gallon drums These drums will be numbered <br /> ' consecutively and labeled as to the contents and accumulation date of each drum Upon completion <br /> of field work, all drums will be moved to one specified area PRC will be responsible for arranging <br /> ' disposal of all materials generated during field work Disposal methods will be based on chemical <br /> analysis of samples collected Disposal will be in accordance with county, state and federal <br /> ' regulations <br /> 3.3.1 Feld Analytical Screening and Sampling <br /> ' Soil gas and ground-water samples will be collected using PRC's FASS equipment which can <br /> collect and analyze between 10 and 30 samples per day depending on site conditions Samples will be <br /> i <br /> ' collected through a driven steel probe and analyzed on site Approximately 25 samples will be taken <br /> to define the extent of the contaminated area and evaluate placement of ground-water monitoring <br /> wells The proposed area of soil gas and ground-water investigation is presented on Figure 4 Actual <br /> ' sample locations will be determined in the field and may extend beyond the proposed area Navy as- <br /> built drawings and underground utility locators will be consulted prior to sampling to ensure safe <br /> ' probe placement <br /> ' 3.3.2 Soil Boring and Sampling <br /> ' Soil samples will be collected from boreholes using a split-spoon sampler Sampling will <br /> consist of ltthologic logging and sample collection Soil samples will be collected continuously <br /> ' Borings will be extended a minimum of 10 feet past the ground-water table Up to five soil samples <br /> SAMPLAN 162 <br /> 044.0162UrA7R[-05106192 14 <br />
