' 3.0 LEVEL C PROTECTION <br /> Removal personnel will upgrade to Level C protection if air monitoring indicates that organic <br /> vapor concentrations are above 5 ppm Level C protective equipment includes the following <br /> 1 <br /> • Chemical-resistant clothing (Saranex or Tyvek coveralls with a hood) <br /> ' • Full-face, air-purifying respirator with organic vapor cartridges with <br /> aerosol/particulate prefilter <br /> ' • Work boots with steel toes and steel shanks <br /> ' • Chemical-resistant, disposable booties <br /> • Disposable, latex gloves (inner) <br /> ' • Chemical-resistant, butyl rubber or nitrile gloves (outer) and <br /> • Hard hat <br /> 1 <br /> Level C Protection will be worn when the following criteria are met <br /> r <br /> • Ambient air contains greater than 19 5 percent oxygen by volume (ambient air <br /> conditions will be monitored with a CGI Combustible Gas Indicator, <br /> • Direct readings on an PID Photoiomzation Detector or OVA Organic Vapor Analyzer <br /> ' show the detection of toxic vapors, greater than the action level specified with this <br /> plan, <br /> ' • Contaminant concentrations are within the service limit of the selected canister and the <br /> work is not PID, or <br /> • Job functions do not require the use of self-contained breathing apparatus <br /> 1 <br /> Personnel wearing full-face respirators will have passed a qualitative fit-test for the mask <br /> ' Drillers who may need to wear a respirator will have submitted a letter stating that designated <br /> personnel have also passed a fit test Continuous air monitoring will be conducted by on-site <br /> ' personnel using an OVA, and any detection of air contaminants will be noted <br /> E - 4 <br />
