1
February 25 , 1992
' Due to increased requests for data validation and the use of
analytical data for risk assessment CHEMWEST has recently amended
it' s GC reporting policy to include the reporting of all analytes
' DETECTED and CONFIRMED by second column in a particular sample,
including all values detected at levels BELOW the listed reporting
limit. while this change will reflect an improved manner of data
' reporting, consistent with EPA/CLP data reporting criteria, initial
confusion may result due to the lack of this manner of reporting
for similar sates sampled and analyzed in the past. The data base
for a particular sample (site) will an many cases expand
significantly, as numerous analytes will appear at levels below the
reporting limit. we apologize for any inconvenience that may
result, however we feel that the more inclusive CLP lake manner of
' data reporting will out-weigh initial confusion and potential
discrepancy and will be of greater benefit to the end user of the
data .
Data flags appearing on the individual data report sheets, are
defined as follows:
' E• Exceeds linear calibration range, (see dilution)
Y: Value not at optimal dalutaon, (see alternate dilution)
X. Matrix interference
J• Estimated value, detected below reporting limits
B: Detected an method blank
' Z. SeeCase Narrative
KIRK POCAN
GC Laboratory Manager
