- GRO-PHASE
ENVIMONMENTAL
GPE Project No.: 207.3
December 29, 2008
Mr. Harlin Knoll
San Joaquin County EHD
600 E. Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Contaminant Mass Removal
Location: Former Manna Pro Site,4004 S.El Dorado St.,Stockton
Dear Mr. Knoll:
This letter is in response to your request for information dated December 22, 2008 regarding the
contaminant mass removed at the site. \
As you know, Geo-Phase Environmental has operated a VES/AS remedial system for several years.
The remedial system is generally monitored and serviced on a twice-weekly basis. For more than a
year, the remedial system has been operated on an approximately half-time basis. In general the
system is on for a month and then off the following month. This "pulsed" operating schedule is
believed to reduce O&M costs without significantly reducing total mass removal. In essence it
increases the efficiency of the system.
The following lists some important dates of the remedial process.
• 4/2000 - Pilot VES Test
• 7/28/00—Report of Pilot Test
2/16/01 —CAP Submitted
• 6/18/02—Report of First Phase System Construction&Operation(3 Wells, 95 Days)
• 8/12/02—CAP Addendum
• Q2&Q3/2003 —Remedial System Construction
• 9/4/03—System Startup
• 9/26/03 —Report of Sys Construction& Startup
The system monitoring includes measuring the PID concentration of extracted gasoline vapor and
measurement of the extraction rate. Occasional lab samples are also collected for laboratory
measurement of the richness of extracted vapor. Experience has shown that the richness of the
extracted vapor varies widely and often times, rapidly. Because of the erratic nature of the vapor
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc. Phone: (209)569-0293
Modesto, Ca 95356 Fax: (209)569-0295
