As we discussed with John
Aveggio, P.E., of SHN Engineering, the work plan as drafted by D.K. Barber contained essentially one
basic approach to soil remediation {i.e.: excavation and removal and/or bugging and farming).
While we are anxious to finally begin cleanup in 2008,several elements of the draft work plan have
required us to pause and re-look at the approach. First, excavation and removal proposed costs in the
plan are estimated at approximately$2.5 million. In addition, this process-especially if farming and
bugging are employed-will consume all the necessary space for continued operation of the Acampo
plant.
Although excavation is quick and maybe more complete, it's very expensive and will devastate the
business in Acampo. For this reason,we are requesting the services of John Aveggio to investigate the
feasibility of other strategies. They may include some excavation and various injection systems that
could reduce our costs and disruption to our current business.
We will proceed with all haste to provide you with a new work plan that can be approved and
implemented.
Kindest regards,
Chris Walker
A ERR
6/18/2008
