Analytical results of the soil samples collected from soil boring C-2 at
the northeast comer of the property were 9,900 milligrams per kilogram mg/kg of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons extractable (TPH-e)at 35 feet below surface grade(bsg)and 15,500 mg/kg of
TPH-e at 40 feet bsg. The results of soil samples from C-4 located at the eastern edge of the
property were 2,930 mg/kg of TPH-e at 25 feet bsg,and 1,240 mg/kg of TPH-e at 30 feet bsg.
Analytical results of the groundwater samples collected from monitoring well#1 (MW-1)in
January 2002 were 1,200 micrograms per liter(gg/l)of TPH-diesel. The report referenced the
presence of private wells on the north and east neighboring properties.
The report states that groundwater gradient and flow direction was determined using two off-site
irrigation wells and one on site well. Please be advised that groundwater gradients must be
determined by information from properly constructed monitoring wells not irrigation or other wells.
The extent of the contamination in both soil and groundwater has not been defined. Submit a
work plan to EHD that will define the extent of the contamination immediately to comply with San
Joaquin County District Attorney Office requirements. Currently MW-1 is the only monitoring well
on site. EHD directs you to install at least two additional monitoring wells on site to confirm the
on-site groundwater contamination and to provide data to calculate groundwater gradient flow
direction.
EHD directs you to conduct a 2000-foot well survey and submit the results including properly
scaled and labeled map, site addresses, any known pumping rates, and any known construction
details of the wells. A work plan for a well survey is not required.
If you have any questions contact Jeffrey Wong at(209)468-0335.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Envi onmental Health Department
A
`
Jeffreong, ior REHS Margare agorio, RENS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWOCB, Central Valley Region—Marty Hartzell
c: SJCADA- David Irey
