3 PHASE II PLAN DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
31 General Findings through February 2002
' Sample collection and review through April 30, 2001 revealed that contamination very
likely extends outside the earlier assumed perimeter (to the North and East) of the C2, C-
3 and C-416 or NE corner of the site
Borings were placed at the edge of the site's northern and eastern property boundaries,
the borings indicated petroleum hydrocarbons similar to diesel in the soil between 20 and
40 FT bgs near the property's edge as well as low levels of extractable petroleum
hydrocarbons in the underlying groundwater at about 50 FT bgs
Findings support the presence of a product plume in a north—north easterly direction in
the soil as well as a broader low level contaminated area of groundwater Similarly the
petroleum hydrocarbon plume in the groundwater extends in the same direction beyond
the property line
' A ground water sample was collected from MW-1 in January 2002 and depths to the
water table were measured at selected points surrounding the site Results have been
' amended to Appendix D, "LABORATORY RESULTS" The 1St quarter 2002 January
2002 sample indicated a decrease in Purgeable Hydrocarbons from 56 ppb in the 2nd
quarter of 2001 to below non-detect (50 ppb) levels, while Unidentifiable Extractable
Hydrocarbons dropped to 12 ppm from 2 4 ppm measured in the 2nd quarter of
' 2001 Reference February 28,2002 Addendum to Barber's Interim Findings Report
(Appendix H)
1
3-1
