Soil samples should be collected and analysed every five (5) feet. Once there are three (3)
monitoring wells at the site the site specific gradient can be determined.
In addition quarterly sampling and analysis of the groundwater from these wells must be done. This
information should by submitted in a quarterly report to PHS/EHD and Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board pursuant to Section 2652(d)of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations (California
Code of Regulations, Title 23, Chapter 16).
It was also recommended by the committee that soil data should be gathered and an estimated mass volume
of remaining contaminated soil should be calculated and reported to PHS/EHD. This estimate of mass volume
of remaining contaminated soil will be used as a factor in determining the future threat to groundwater of
contaminants leaching through the soil.
Please submit a workplan for installation of the additional wells by January 1, 1994.
If you have any questions, please contact Michael Collins, REHS, of my staff at (209) 468-0338.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
Donna Heran, REHhhS Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
DH/MC
c CVRWQCB - Elizabeth Thayer
c: SWRCB, Clean Up Fund; Attn: T.
