As recommended by EHD,the investigation included the drilling of six
deep borings using cone penetrometer testing equipment and the col Icotion of more than
a dozen groundwater samples for laboratory analysis. The report of the investigation was
submitted to EHD in mid-January,2004.
dillies Trucking believes that it has complied with your request for additional data. The
principal contaminant of concern is diesel fuel, which has limited mobility and associated
health risks. More volatile and mobile compounds, such as methyl tertiary butyl eU1cr
(MTBLI), dichloroethano (1,2-DCA),and gasoline are absent or present at minor
concentrations. The Gillics domestic well has not been impacted with diesel fuel since the
middle of 1999, and the nearest otl sito domestic well(at 3851 Newton Road)has never
been impacted. Therefore,it is the position of Gillies Trucking that the site does not pose
a significant risk to health, safety,or groundwater resources, and has instructed me to
request that you refer the case to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board with a recommendation for No Farther Action at this time.
