` Mr. Ken Gillies • •
Gillies Trucking
3931 Newton Road, Stockton
remaining boring could be placed in the modeled channel axis between GT-4 and
TB-2 where abundant soil sample data can be utilized to calibrate the CPT data
and grab ground water samples can be obtained to delineate the vertical extent
of impacted ground water. As target depths have not been proposed by UEC,
EHD suggests an initial target depth in the former UST area of 110 to 120 feet
below surface grade to test immediately under the Riverbank Aquitard; the target
depths for the other CPT borings can be adjusted based on site conditions,
assessment and modeling needs to achieve the assessment goals. EHD also
recommends use of a 25-ton CPT rig to maximize the likelihood of achieving
sufficient depths of penetration. UEC's experience drilling on the site should be
utilized to select the proper CPT rig. If you agree with EHD's proposed
assessment depths and with collection of the soil behavior data, the CPT
investigation work plan is approved, otherwise please submit a work plan
addendum with your proposals with the justifications by 16 May 2003.
Please submit a drilling permit application for each parcel with the $89.00 fee for
each parcel to EHD. Notify EHD at least 72 hours before commencing each
phase of fieldwork.
Questions or comments may be directed to Nuel Henderson by mail (address on
letter head), by e-mail at nhenderson@sjcehd.com, or by telephone at
(209) 468-3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Nuel C. Henderson, Jr., RG
Margareio, REHS
Unit IV - Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
cc: James L.L. Barton — CVRWQCB
Victor Cherven — UEC
