Samples will noed in this upper portion, but will be collected at 5-foot intervals between
the depths 50 and 120 No water samples will be collected from the boring. After sampling,
boring GP-11 wi be backfilled with grout.
No sooner than 48 hours after the completion of GP-10, the elevation of the well cashig will be
surveyed and the depth to groundwater will be measured in all wells. After purging, water samples
will be collected from GP-10 and any, other wells in which the static water level is less than 10 feet
over the screened interval.
Although hydrocarbons at this site are primarily within the diesel range, low concentrations of
gasoline have been detected in the soil in the vicinity of both GP-10 and GP-11. Gasoline and
BTEX have seldom been detected in the groundwater, but both could be encountered in GP-10-
Therefore, selected soil samples will be analyzed for both TPH-g and TPH-d, as well as for BTEX,
and the groundwater sample from GP-10 will also be analyzed for these constituents.
Upon completion of all field and laboratory work, a report will be prepared by a California
registered geologist. The report will be include recommendations regarding fitture site
investigations.
4.0 PROCEDURES
1)Notify San Joaquin EHD at least 48 hours prior to field work.
2)Drill two vertical borings to depths of 60 and 120 feet below grade using a hollow-stem auger
drilling rig.
3) Collect discrete soil samples at 5-foot intervals, using a California modified split-spoon sampler
loaded with three 6" brass sample sleeves. Continuously sample the shallow boring;from 35
to 60 feet.
4)Preserve the bottom sleeve by covering the ends with teflon sheets and plastic caps, and ship
to McCampbell Analytical for analysis of TPH-g, TPH-d,and BTEX.
5) Screen the middle sample for the presence of organic vapors using a portable photo-ionization
detector(PID)and record the measurement on the boring log.
6)Extrude the middle and upper sleeves and record the sample descriptions on the boring log in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.
7) Decontaminate the sampling equipment between samples.
8) Steam clean the drilling equipment between borings.
9)Place auger returns on visquine.
