WORK PLAN for
FURTHER INVESTIGATION
Gillies Trucking
3931 Newton Rd.
Stockton, CA
1.0 INTRODUCTION
At the request of the Environmental Health Department of San Joaquin County(EHD),
Gillies Trucking Co. has retained Upgradient Environmental Consultants to prepare this,
work plan for additional investigation at 3931 Newton Road. Following a meeting on
November 13, 2002 with representatives of Gillies Trucking and San Joaquin County
Board of Supervisors, EHD issued a letter to Gillies Trucking summarizing the meeting
and listing a number of additional requirements pertaining to the investigation of soil and
groundwater contamination at the Gillies Trucking property. The investigation is under
the supervision of Mr.Nuel Henderson of EHD. The purpose of this work plan is to
describe the procedures that will be used to meet these requirements.
2.0 REQUESTED DATA AND ACTIVITIES
In its November 26, 2002 correspondence, EHD requested the following information:
I. An estimate of the masses of sorbed and dissolved hydrocarbons
2. The vertical extent of impacted groundwater
3. Horizontal delineation of the extent of impacted groundwater in each of the three
depth intervals currently monitored
4. Hydraulic properties of the sand bodies
5. Well designs for the on-site domestic well, the Barbot well on the adjacent parcel,
and other water wells in the immediate vicinity that may exert a pumping
influence on the plume of impacted groundwater
6. A characterization of the pumping influences of the G-I and Barbot wells on the
plume of impacted groundwater;
7. Delineation and characterization of the channel identified by UEC
EHD noted that some of this information may already have been obtained, but was not
found during EHD's review of the site file. In Upgradient Environmental's opinion, this
is true of the second, fourth, and last items in this list;although on a number of occasions
EHD has expressed disagreement with our view regarding these issues. Therefore, before
proceeding to describe the procedures that will be implemented to accomplish the tasks
requested by EHD,we present the following additional discussion of the disputed items.
