Inc.
29 October 2000
U
Harlin Knoll
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 E. Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton,California 95202
RE: Shutdown of Remediation System at
Former Exxon RAS#7-3942,4444 North Pershing Avenue,
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
As agreed upon during the 12 September 2000 meeting between Mr. Harlin Knoll and Margaret Lagorio
(San Joaquin County Public Health Services)(SJCPHS), Mr. Darin L. Rouse (ExxonMobil), and Ms.
Christa Marting and Doug Oram (ETIC Engineering),the existing vacuum vaporizer well system
(UVB) at the referenced facility will be shutdown. In addition, a proposed work plan detailing a risk
assessment for the subject property will be submitted in order to obtain some type of closure or"a no
further action required status."
The work plan detailing the risk assessment will be submitted to you by 15 November 2000 for
approval and prior to the investigation's commencement. Based on the results of the assessment,a
determination as to which remedial activities ExxonMobil and SJCPHS feel most appropriate will be
made. During the 12 September 2000 meeting, two possible directions for future site activities were
discussed: (1) If the risk assessment exhibits no potential impact to the neighboring properties and the
subject property, a request for closure/no further action will be made. This request will consider the
existing site conditions as well as the future use of the property. (2) In the event that the proposed risk
assessment reveals potential impact to the aforementioned properties, a plan will be set in place with
your approval to eliminate the risk.
ETIC Engineering appreciates your with this environmental case. If you have any questions or
comments regarding site status or the remediation system, please contact me at(925) 977-7914.
Sincerely,
F.
