(ETIC)
has prepared this Work Plan for the Installation of Injection Point Pairs and Exploratory Boring
for former Exxon Retail Site (RS) 7-3942, located at 4444 North Pershing Avenue, Stockton,
California (Figure 1). Data collected during this investigation will be used to assess the vertical
extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and groundwater. In addition, soil samples will be analyzed
for a general mineral suite as part of a bench scale study which may be performed to evaluate the
effects of injecting ozone and hydrogen peroxide into the subsurface. The proposed injection
point pairs will be used to perform air sparging tests, which will provide additional information
needed to assess if insitu chemical oxidation using a combination of ozone and hydrogen
peroxide is a viable option as a remedial technology.
Former Exxon RS 7-3942 is currently a vacant lot located on the southeast comer of the
r intersection of North Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie Lane (Figure 1). Used oil and three
grades of gasoline were stored in four underground storage tanks, which were removed from the
site in July 1986.
Land use in the vicinity of the site is primarily commercial and residential. A Shell service
station and a 7-Eleven food and gasoline service store are located on the southwest and
r northwest corners, respectively, of the intersection of North Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie
Lane. The Chateau Hospital convalescent home is located approximately 200 feet northeast of
the site across Rosemarie Lane. There is an apartment complex to the east of the site and a
r commercial building to the south. Stagg High School is located approximately 1,500 feet
southwest of the site.
2. PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
ETIC proposes the installation of three injection point pairs (IP1-IP3) and the installation of one
exploratory boring(EB 1).
ETIC proposes to conduct the following activities:
• Prior to field work, a permit for the installation of three injection point pairs, which will
be used during subsequent air sparging tests, and one exploratory boring will be acquired
from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD).
• ETIC personnel will mark the three proposed injection point pair locations and one
exploratory boring location as indicated on Figure 1, and Underground Service Alert
(USA) will be contacted at least 72 hours prior to drilling. The locations may be moved
slightly based on surface and subsurface conditions (surrounding features, subsurface
r obstructions, etc.). A licensed utility line locator will be subcontracted by ETIC to clear
the marked drilling locations. If a marked location is over or adjacent to a utility line,
` ETIC personnel will mark another location, which will be screened by the utility line
locator to clear the location for drilling.
G:\Pmj"\)3942 A SM\K WP0901\WTex dm I
