' 1. INTRODUCTION
•
' At the request of ExxonMobil Oil Corporation (ExxonMobil), ETIC Engineering, Inc (ETIC)
has prepared this Aar Sparging Pilot Test Report for former Exxon Retail Site (RS) 7-3942,
located at 4444 North Pershing Avenue, Stockton, California(Figure 1) This report includes the
' results of the air sparging pilot test conducted on 8 September 2004 The purpose of the air
sparging pilot test was to provide preliminary information needed to assess the feasibility of
injecting ozone and hydrogen peroxide as an insitu oxidizing technology for site remediation
'
Scope of Work
' During the air sparging pilot test, compressed air was injected into two existing wells Thirteen
existing wells were used as observation wells All observation wells were monitored for induced
' pressure Two observation wells were monitored for dissolved oxygen (DO) and oxidation
reduction potential (ORP) during the pilot test At the request of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) during a telephone conversation on 16 August
' 2004, groundwater samples were collected from offsite well V3 before and after the pilot test and
analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE), and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g)
' Results of the pilot test were used to gather preliminary information regarding
• the change in air flow with respect to pressure,
• the effect of air sparging on dissolved oxygen and oxidation reduction potential, and
• the radius of influence of air sparging
i
i
I
ICT\Pm3Kcu\739424MASTERIWPIASR09041ASPTR VS dos 1
