' 3.2 1 California Water Service Company Records
As part of the well search in the vicinity of former Exxon RS 7-3942, a database printout was
requested and received from the California Water Service Company (Cal Water) in April 2001
Among the two State Wells (Sta 38 and Sta 49) identified within one mile of former Exxon RS
' 7-3942, only Sta 49 is active Well Sta 38 is located crossgradient and approximately 1,800
feet southwest from former Exxon RS 7-3942, and Well Sta 49 is located upgradient and
approximately 1,900 feet south from the site Both wells are more than 500 feet deep and
screened from depths greater than 150 feet The information provided by Cal Water suggests
that there are no wells that pump water from a shallow or deeper water bearing zone within one
' mile of the site in the downgradient direction The Cal Water data record is provided in
Appendix H The location of these wells is presented on Figure 9
3.2.2 Environmental Data Resources, Inc. Records
An electronic search of environmental records for sensitive receptors was performed by
Environmental Data Resources, Inc (EDR) The EDR records, as presented in Appendix I,
indicate five downgradient water wells located approximately 4,800 feet northeast (reported as
destroyed), and six wells 1,300 feet southeast and upgradient of the site The location of these
' wells is presented on Figure 9 There are groundwater monitoring wells located at both the Shell
service station and a 7-11 food and gasoline service store located on the southwest and northwest
corners, respectively, of the intersection of North Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie Lane
3.2.3 Field Observations
A limited door-to-door well survey was performed by ETIC in the immediate area of the site to
determine the number of groundwater monitoring wells at the neighboring properties, and to
assess the presence of a domestic well thought to exist in a location approximately 600 feet west
of the site, which is upgradient to crossgradient of the site The potential presence of a domestic
well at this location was reported in the Preliminary Report prepared in 1987 (EA 1987a)
There are 5 groundwater monitoring wells located at the Shell service station and 3 wells at the
7-11 food and gasoline service store located on the southwest and northwest corners,
respectively, of the intersection of North Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie Lane The property
where the domestic well was thought to be located was visited by ETIC personnel As no one
was available to interview at the time of the visit, a written request for information concerning
the presence or absence of the well was left at the property ETIC did not receive a response to
the written request The location of this property in question is presented in Appendix J
G 1Projectst73942'64A3FER%WP1Ra08014ext2 doc 6
