Miner, Stockton, CA Dear Mr. and Mrs. Knoll: As a follow up to our meeting I am writing to provide you with a cost estimate to prepare a Workplan for a Soil Investigation at the subject property. We propose to: • Review the Dept. of Health Services 1988 report and compliance order as well as the 1990 Kaldveer Associates Report prepared for Caltrans. • Prepare and submit a Soil Sampling Workplan which will provide for random sampling of the entire property,focused sampling of the southeastern end of the property and any areas around the building with visible staining, sampling of the sump inside the building and sampling of the leach field area. • Negotiate with San Joaquin Co. PHS/EHD and DA's office concerning specifics of sampling plan and modify Workplan if necessary and as appropriate to satisfy those agencies. Once we have reviewed the DHS and Kaldveer reports the scope of the sampling work can be specified and an accurate cost estimate prepared. At this time, based on my limited knowledge of previous analyses, I would guess that the sampling will cost between $ 5,000 and $ 10,000. We will review the reports and prepare and modify the Workplan for the fixed fee of$ 2,000, payable in advance. We can begin work immediately upon your authorization and receipt of the fee.
