v9
GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
2291 W. March Lane, Suite 127D
Stockton, California 95207
Telephone: (209) 952-3481
Facsimile: (209) 952-9892
December 3, 1996
Mr. Doug Wilson
San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Addendum to Workplan for Soil Sampling at Roy's Towing
3570 East Miner Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Wilson:
On behalf of Roy and Norma Knoll we are writing in response to your October 30 letter
regarding soil sampling at the subject property. In order to address your comments and to
comply with the Court Order we are submitting this addendum to our September 30 Workplan.
Our responses and modifications to the proposed work are as follows:
1. All samples will be submitted to the laboratory for analysis.
2. The septic tank underlying the building foundation will be accessed and samples of the
liquid and sludge contained therein will be collected for laboratory analysis. Pending the
results of analysis any septic tank contents pumped will be properly disposed of.
3. Should random sampling locations underlie vehicles or debris, these will be moved in
order to collect samples. Focused samples adjacent to areas of suspected contamination
east of the property were proposed in the Workplan.
4. Samples collected from the septic tank and from the sump and leachfield area will be
analyzed for the following substances in addition to TRPH and total lead:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline, EPA method 8015
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel, EPA method 8015
• Volatile Organics, EPA method 8240
As we discussed over the phone it would be redundant to analyze samples for solvents by both
method 8010 and 8240. The 8240 method also includes the BTEX consituents typically analyzed
by method 8020. Therefore, we propose to delete methods 8010 and 8020 from the suite of analyses.
