Safe Use of Drilling Augers <br /> The following general procedures will be used when starting a boring with continuous flight <br /> of hollow-stem augers: <br /> o Never place hands of fingers under the bottom of an auger section when hoisting the <br /> auger over the top of the auger section in the ground or over other hard surfaces such <br /> as the drill ng platform. <br /> o Never allow feet to get under the auger section that is being hoisted <br /> o When rotating augers, stay clear of the rotating auger and other rotating components <br /> of the drill ng. Never reach behind or around a rotating auger for any reason <br /> whatever <br /> o Use a long-handled shovel to move auger cuttings away from the auger Never use <br /> your hands or feet to move cuttings away from the auger <br /> o Augers should be cleaned only when the drill ng is in neutral and the augers have <br /> stopped from rotating. <br /> F Safety During Drilling and Excavation Operations <br /> Safety requires the attention and cooperation of every worker and site visitor. <br /> Do not drive the drill ng, backhoe, or the crane from one boring or another excavation <br /> location with the mast in the rased position. <br />.
