T
I
Analytical Methodology
Soil vapor samples collected from each probe will be transferred directly to the on-site mobile
laboratory and analyzed immediately. There will be minimal lag time between sample collection
and analysis, ensuring that the integrity of the sample is maintained.
i
Samples will be analyzed on a gas chromatograph equipped with megabore ca-rimary columns
and a combination of ELCO (Hall), PIC, FIC, and ECO detectors as needed. This combination of
columns and detectors ensures compound separation, recognition, and detection at required
levels.
These detectors enable on-site analysis for landfill hydrocarbons, petroleum hydrocarbons,
volatile aromatics (STE q, and volatile halogenated compounds (eg. OCE TCE PCc, OCA, TCA,
PCA) using EPA approved analytical methodology outlined in methods 8014, 8015m, and 8024.
Output signals from each detector are processed by computer chromatography software and the
results entered into a laboratory computer for on-site processing and graphing. }
Oaily instrument Calibration i
Oaily continuing calibration is performed at the start and end of each day by injecting a mid-range
calibration standard and a check standard. Acceptable continuing calibration agreement +1- 20%
to the calibration curve.
Blanks & Ouolicates
i
Elanks are analyzed at the start of each day and more often as appropriate depending upon the it
measured concentrations. Typically, when high sample values are encountered, additional
blanks may be analyzed. Oupticate samples are analyzed as needed or as requested by the
client or regulatory agency.
Compound Confirmation
The combination or PIC & ELCO (Hall) detectors in series gives dual detector confirmation of
compounds. Also, a surrogate compound is added to each sample during analysis to confirm
that the chromatographic retention times have not shifted during the course or the day.
Strataprobe
TEG's latest hydraulic drive point sampling system can obtain high volume, high quality soil,
water, and deep soil gas samples. Designed specifically to support site assessments, TE1's
STPATAPPCEE'" is a multknedia sampling system capable or reacting E0 feet or more below
the ground surface. Soil samples can be obtained as discrete samples in stainless or brass
sleeves. Nater samples can be obtained rrcm a 1 inch well using a bailer or peristaltic oump.
Scii gas can be collected in a dedicated ape alien or in conjunction with soil and water samcline.
Transaicbai Environmental Geochemistry
11350 Monier Park Placa. riancho Coroava, CA 95742 Phone: (916) 853-2010 Fax: (916) 353-8029
