' BEM 0 • BEMSystet r,Inc
SYSTEMS.INC. BE 1359
Holz Rubber Co.,Inc.
Project Ash,Lodi,CA
SAMPLE ANALYSIS AND ANALYTICAL METHODS
In order to ultimately facilitate rapid transfer of the property, all groundwater samples will be analyzed on an
expedited basis, by a California Certified environmental laboratory, for the full "TCL/TAL+30" analytical suite:
target compound list (TCL) organics and 30 most prominent tentatively identified compounds (TICS) and target
analyte list (TAL) metals. In addition, all groundwater samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPHC)and pH. The groundwater analytical program is summarized in the following table:
Ari ieaiParatnter
Aw
NOeatlsdaltodology
TCL VOC+10 USEPA 624
TCL BNA+20 USEPA 625
TCL Pesticides/PCBs USEPA 608
TAL Metals/Cyanide USEPA 200.7
TPHC USEPA 418.1
H USEPA 150.1
Soil cuttings generated from the HydroPunch sampling system will be composited and analyzed as follows:
Anal 'calfsarantetsFr Anal 'c8l Methadolb
TCL VOC+10 USEPA 8240
TCL BNA+20 USEPA 8270
TCL Pesticides/PCBs USEPA 8080
TAL Metals/Cyanide USEPA 6010/7000 Series
TPHC USEPA 418.1M
H USEPA 9060
If elevated levels of total contaminants are found in the soil cuttings, they may be subjected to waste classification
(toxicity characteristic leaching procedure [TCLP])analysis to determine proper disposal procedures.
DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURE
All equipment anticipated to contact soil or groundwater will be decontaminated prior to sampling and between
each sampling event. Decontamination will consist of rinsing equipment in tap water to remove gross
contamination followed by washing in distilled water with Alconoz, Liquinoz, or Citrinoz detergent followed
by a distilled water rinse and air drying. Decontaminated sampling equipment will be placed on clean aluminum
foil to air dry. Decontaminated sampling equipment will be wrapped in clean aluminum foil between sampling
events.
INVESTIGATION-DRIVEN WASTE HANDLING
Soil cuttings will be placed in roll-off bins and left on site until the laboratory analytical results are received. Any
soil that demonstrates visual contamination or evidence of contamination based on standard field screening
techniques will be separated from clean cuttings. Laboratory analytical results will be used to characterize the
cuttings and they will be subsequently disposed of in an applicable manner.
Protective clothing, if any, and latex gloves used during investigation will be placed in plastic trash bags, and
disposed as common refuse. Decontamination fluids will be containerized and retained on site until laboratory
analytical results of soil sampling are received. If no contamination is identified in the soil samples, the
decontamination fluids will be discharged to the city of Lodi sanitary sewer system. If contamination is identified,
the decontamination fluids will be characterized and disposed appropriately.
September 1996 2
g:lac&c-h&cV 3591 correspl20125cd.doc
