REnledlatlon Plan
Cleanup and Abatement Order No 5-00-707 EAI Proll-ct No 1232
4.0 SUPPLEMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT
A Supplemental Site Assessment consisting of advancing two 150-foot deep CPT borings, one
on Unocal site and one on the Wards site, and to install one nested ground water well on the
Wards site, is proposed The CPT work is necessary to determine if a clay layer encountered
during CPT work near the RIW at about 110 feet bgs is laterally extensive and present beneath
the Unocal and Wards sites (see EAI, 2000B) The nested well proposed for the former Wards
site is the same nested well proposed for the site in EAI, 2000B, but never installed due to
Wards filing for bankruptcy
Figure 13 shows the approximate location of the proposed CPT borings and the nested well It
is proposed that the CPT work be completed first, and then the nested well installed
immediately after completion and evaluation of the CPT work Based on the assumption that
the clay layer encountered near the RIW will be encountered beneath the Wards site, proposed
nested well MW-8S/D will be slotted between approximately 85 and 90 feet bgs, and 100 to
105 feet bgs We have assumed that as with the CPT work previous completed near the RIW,
staff of the RWQCB will be on-site during this CPT work to observe the work and confirm the
proposed nested well design Should unexpected site conditions be encountered, the
construction details for the nested well will be modified, with RWQCB assistance and
approval
i
1
1
r
BS 1232P RAP ADD -!-
ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT,INCA
