Remed,ation Pl,,n <br /> Cleanup and Abatement Order No 5-00-707 BAl Project No 1232 <br /> 60 SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION <br /> 61 Wards Remediation System <br /> The remediation system on the Wards site was reactivated on June 21, 2001, after completing <br /> the following tasks <br /> • Installation of an electrical meter inside the compound <br /> a Changing oil and checking rotation of the blower and the compressor with no load <br /> • Purging wells with compressed air <br /> • Fixing wellheads VEW-3 and VEW-4 <br /> 0 Restarting the thermal oxidizer and operation for 24 hours <br /> • Restarting the air sparging compressor, <br /> 0 Taking field readings <br /> • Obtaining three soil vapor samples (two from the oxidizer inlet and one from the stack) <br /> for TPH and BTEX analysis The results of this testing will be reported under separate <br /> cover <br /> 62 Underground Piping to Unocal Site <br /> The 3-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC vapor extraction line, and 2-inch diameter Schedule 80 <br /> air sparging line will be installed in and 18-inch deep trench (see Figure 14) <br /> 63 Biospargmg at RIW Site <br /> Wells MW-21D, MW-22D, MW-24S, and AS-27 will be connected to a air compressor of <br /> approximately 20 scfm, with a discharge pressure of 30 psig The compressor will include a <br /> timer to allow for operation in a "pulse" mode The air sparing piping will be installed in a <br /> trench and constructed of the same materials as described in Section 6 2 (see Figure 14) <br /> 64 Wellhead Completion <br /> Existing well boxes on the wells to be used for remediation will be replaced with 18-inch <br /> diameter boxes The vapor extraction and air sparging lines will be connected to the <br /> remediation wells in a manner allowing use of these wells for ground water monitoring (see <br /> Figure 14) Each well will be provided with a 2-inch diameter cut-off valve to take a well off- <br /> line, if required Vapor extraction wells will be provided with a sample port to obtain field <br /> ;icadings and to collect vapor samples to assess ttie effectiveness of remediation efforts <br /> RS 1232P RAP ADD -9- <br /> EN VIR ONME N TA L A UDIT,INS'e <br />
