To: San Joaquin Planning Commission MAY 221992
From: Mike & Pam Turbetti COMMUNITY DEVELOhAtiv i Ute(.
7282 E. Cherokee Rd. PLANNING DIVISION
Stockton, CA 95205
I am writing this letter to voice my opposition to the
proposed subdivision by Bob Byington of property located on
the East side of Ashley Lane, South of Uyeda Lane, in
Northeast Stockton.
We in San Joaquin county should be concerned about
protecting our remaining farmland. The zone change of
prime agricultural land from AG40 to AL5 is NOT in the best
interest of the surrounding farming community. It is
getting increasingly difficult for farmers to conduct their
business without worrying about neighbors complaining about
dust, sprayers running during the night, or tractors and
farm equipment moving down the road, all of which is common
in farming community.
There are some people in San Joaquin County that want to
believe that our economy is not dependent upon agriculture,
but if you look around during these last economically tough
years, you will see that agriculture related business has
continued to employ and bring revenue to San Joaquin
County while other businesses have been forced to close
their doors.
