Mr.John Moody
September 15, 1995
Page 3
Summary
CPL proposes that the following analytical protocols remain as described in EMCON's work
plan:
• All soil and groundwater samples analyzed for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons
(TEPH)by modified EPA Method 8015 and aromatic VOC's by EPA Method 8020.
• The soil sample exhibiting the greatest evidence of TEPH, from each boring, will be analyzed
by Method 8310 for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PNA's) or if EPA Method 8270 (if
applicable).
As requested by the RWQCB and described in EMCON's work plan, CPL will modify the scope
of work as indicated below:
• A Geoprobe°boring location will be relocated between Areas 4 and 7 to ensure adequate
representation of the site along the pipeline.
• Continuous coring will be conducted as requested.
• A deep Geoprobe°boring will be installed in Area 4.
• The monitoring well boring in Area 4 will be continuously cored to an appropriate depth as
established with the Geoprobe®borings.
• Piezometers will be installed to estimate groundwater depth and gradient.
• Prior to well installation, an interim letter report will be submitted to the RWQCB outlining
approximate well locations.
Please respond to this letter at your earliest convenience so that we can schedule the field work
for this project as soon as possible. If there are questions regarding the above comments, please
call Martin Bloes at(510) 842-6855 or me at (510) 842-6930.
Sincerely,
Z
n O. ubertson
Attachments (2) -
bloe\mp215\emcnrsp.ltr
cc: George Forsythe; EMCON Associates - without attachments
Wendy Cohen; RWQCB -without attachments
bcc: K.
