Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, California 95205
Re: Former Sohio Construction Company Stockton Assembly Site
2894 W. Monte Diablo, Stockton
The purpose of this letter is to notify the San Joaquin Local Health
District of analytical results obtained by California Environmental
Technology for Supracote, Inc. in June1989 on the Stockton Assembly
Site now owned by BP Oil Pipeline Company. We understand that this
notification is required under Proposition 65 regulation and that
this letter to the San Joaquin Local Health District satisfies those
requirements. If not, please let me know as soon as possible so we
can provide the District with whatever additional information is
needed. Supracote was evaluating the site for possible purchase and
had California Environmental Technology conduct various soils
engineering tests to determine the suitability of the site to their
planned operations. During the course of their investigation they
analyzed some soil samples for organic chemical contamination.
Two of samples that were analyzed using EPA Method 8010 for
halogenated volatile organics showed low levels of chloroform. We
believe that these are laboratory artifacts because the levels are
so near the limit of laboratory repeatability. BP (formerly Sohio)
has never used any halogenated chemicals at the site. Additional
reasons to believe that the chloroform is an artifact are that the
locations of the samples are not near each other while the rest of
the samples are apparently clean. We plan, however, to complete
additional soil borings to verify this.
