At least two soil sample were collected (in steel and acetate tubes) from each boring for submittal
' to Argon Mobile Labs in Ceres, California (Certification No 1873) using chain-of-custody
documentation The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
' and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA methods 8015 (modified) and
8020, respectively Cop=es of chain-of-custody records and laboratory reports are presented to
Appendix H
During grouting activities, floating product was observed in boring SB-2
RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION
Site Geology
' Site boring logs and sediments encountered while drilling indicate that the shallow soil under the
site consists of silt and clay Groundwater was encountered in the bonngs at approximately 12
' feet bgs Descriptions of soil encountered during drilling, and depths to groundwater are
presented in the boring logs in Appendix I
' Analytical Results - Soil
The results of laboratory analyses of the soil samples collected from the bonngs indicate that
' TPHg and BTEX were detected above method detection limits in shallow soil samples collected
in bonngs SB-1, SB-2, and SB-3 TPHg was detected in bonngs SB-1, SB-2 and SB-3 TPHg
was detected in SB-1 at 10 feet [21 parts per million (ppm)] and 15 feet (120 ppm), in SB-2 at 10
feet (74 ppm), and in SB-3 at 10 feet (150 ppm) and 15 feet (94 ppm) Benzene was detected in
' only two borings, SB-1 and SB-3 Benzene was detected in SB-1 at 15 feet (0 30 ppm), and in
SB-3 at 10 feet (0 11 ppm) and 15 feet (1 2 ppm) Toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes were
' detected in SB-1 at 15 feet, SB-2 at 10 feet, SB-3 at 10 feet, and SB-3 at 15 feet at low
concentrations Method detection limits of samples SB-1 at 10 feet, SB-2 at 10 feet, and SB-3 at
' 15 feet were higher(0 025 ppm and 0 I0 ppm) due to a dilution factor This may have resulted in
some BTEX constituents being reported as nondetectable in these samples Petroleum
constituents were not detected in any of the samples analyzed from boring SB-4 PID readings
%r%433*nep"\wbrpt.dm 4
•
 SMTH
