All withdrawn groundwater will be stored
on--site in covered 55 gallon waste drums, unless permission is
granted by the appropriate regulatory agencies to lischarge the
Pumped groundwater to the ground surface.
Prior to arriving at the site, all sampling equipment will be
washed with laboratory grade detergent, and rinsed twice with tap
water and once with deionized water.
The
Procedure will be carried out on-site before sampi samplingwaother
shing
- monitoring wells in cases where more than one monitoring well is
to be sampled.
Immediately prior to sampling, the depth to water {DTFJy Ievei in
the well will be recorded. The thickness of product on top of
the groundwater, if present, will be measured using an interface
probe. The procedure for conducting these monitorings are
V Presented in the Groundwater Monitoring Protocol attachment.
Approximately four times the volume of water in the well casing
- will be withdrawn by pumping or hand balling immediately prior to L(
sampling. If the aquifer is slow to recharge, a smaller amount
Of groundwater will be withdrawn in order to leave a sufficient
• volume of water in the well to sample.
The groundwater sample will be collected by lowering a Teflon
sampler into the monitoring well and immediately transferring the
sample into a 40 ml volatile organic analysis {VOA) container.
The sample container will be filled completely so that no head
space remains in the container. Duplicate samples
collected from each well sampled. will be
Immediately following sample collection, the samples will be
labeled and stored in an ice chest containing "blue ice". The
labels wi]_1 contain the following information: date, time,
h. project ID, sample ID, name of sampler and t
samples will be transported under chain of custody analysis. All
state certified laboratory. Y Protocol to a
To_reduce-the potential--of cross-contamination, the wails will be
sampled in order of increasing contamination based on
laboratory analysis, if available, or b Previous
visual/alfactary indications of contamination. In
Inviaddition#
latex gloves worn by the sampler and the nylon cord used to lower
.a the teflon sampler will be replaced between each well sampling.
