1 /, ClaytonEGROVA SERVICS <br /> stem auger drill rig with 8-inch diameter augers Soil samples were collected at 5-foot <br /> intervals to the total depth of 25 feet bgs in each boring One grab soil sample from the <br /> t cuttings of each boring (a total of three soil samples)was collected on January 21, 2003 <br /> and submitted to Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc in Pleasanton, California, for analysis of <br /> Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-gas) and diesel (TPH-diesel) and for <br />' BTEX and MTBE using USEPA Methods 8015M and 8021B Severn Trent is accredited <br /> under the California Department of Health Services Environmental Laboratory <br /> Accreditation Program (ELAP) <br />' Boring logs s are included as Appendix C <br /> pP <br /> 3.3 GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> The borings for each monitoring well were drilled with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem <br />' augers to 25 feet bgs Groundwater monitoring wells were installed on December 5, <br /> 2002 under a permit from the San Joaquin County Enviromnental Health Department, <br /> which is included in Appendix B The wells consist of 2-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC <br /> casing set to a depth of 25 feet bgs A bottom sediment trap is present in each well with <br /> 0 010-inch size slotted casing to 5 feet bgs (20 feet of screen) The remainder of the <br /> ' casing consists of 2-inch diameter Schedule 40 blank casing with a locking cap placed on <br /> the top of the casing A filter pack consisting of# 2116 sand was placed in the annular <br /> space from the bottom of the well at 25 feet bgs to approximately 4 feet bgs, <br /> approximately one foot above the screen A bentonite seal, consisting of one foot of <br /> hydrated bentonite pellets, was placed to three feet bgs MW-1 was finished with a <br /> traffic-rated well box installed in concrete to approximately one inch above the <br /> ' surrounding surface Wells MW-2 and MW-3 were completed with above-ground <br /> monument casings to enhance visibility and protection As an added measure, crash <br /> posts were constructed around MW-2 and MW-3 <br /> Well construction diagrams of each of the three wells are included with the boring logs in <br /> Appendix C, and a generalized well construction diagram is included as Figure 4 <br /> ' 3.4 WELL DEVELOPMENT <br /> ' Each of the three wells was developed by Gregg Drilling& Testing, Inc , using a DV4 <br /> development rig, on January 17, 2003 Prior to development,the total depth and depth to <br /> water were measured in each well <br /> Well No Depth to Water (btoc) Total Depth (btoc) <br /> (ft) _ (ft) <br /> ' MW-1 649 2445 <br /> MW-2 932 2761 <br /> MW-3 93 2822 <br /> btoc means below top of casing <br /> 4 <br /> S\Proj\P02263\Q1 Rpt doc <br />
