This operation was not addressed in the Tiered Permitting letter
sent to Interlake, Inc. dated April 6, 1993. That letter addressed those units located at
your facility which might be considered potential treatment units under Tiered
Permitting. As the letter stipulates, Chemical Data Management Systems determined
that none of the three areas listed were subject to Tiered Permitting regulations.
Your facility's MEK recycling operation was purposefully not listed as a potential
treatment unit under Tiered Permitting in that letter, In this operation, both the paint and
the MEK are recycled. A sludge is produced as a result of this recycling operation. This
sludge, however, is not treated. Instead it is sent oft -site for disposal as hazardous
waste. Since nothing is being treated, including the sludge, this operation is considered
recycling and is not subject to Tiered Permitting regulations.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
1
r.
Chemical Data . -
copy: Stacy Brunner
11750 Dublin Blvd., Spite 201 41 Dublin, CA 94568 • (510)551-7300 • FAX (510) 829-388,6
5500 Atherton Street,, Suite 204 • tong Beach, CA 90815 • (310) 430.2800 • FAX (310) 795x0627
TnT ill •i
