Due to the volatile nature of some materials handl t our facility, <br />we must always be prepared to respond to a fire emergency. Fire <br />prevention measures are our best defense against a fire. Dart Container does not hav- <br />r •.r <br />brigadeHowever, in the event of a <br />fire, employees are trained annually to operate fire extinguishers. In the event a fire does <br />occur the procedure below shall be followed: <br />2. Employees trained to operate a fire extinguisher may attempt to extinguish a <br />small fire if they feel confident in doing so. Fire extinguishing attempts shall cease <br />when the fire is out of control or conditions have deteriorated (such as smoke limiting <br />bility). <br />3. To summon additional Dart Container Corporation personnel to assist wi <br />fire emergency response efforts: i <br />2. DIAL : 85 (Plant -wide PAGE Number) <br />Tx--- =-, <br />MIT; MM • =:•. !! ; =1 <br />Immediately dial 9 — 9-1 -1 if the fire can not be immediately extinguished by Dart <br />personnel. Also, activate the nearest fire alarm pull station. <br />5. If the alarm was activated at an alarm pull station or by water flow from the fire <br />sprinklers, a Supervisor (or other designee) shall immediately check the alarm <br />monitor box next to the time clock in Bldg. A to verify the alarm status and alarm <br />location. The plant alarm system layout is mounted on the wall next to this box. The <br />Supervisor will locate the source of the alarm and send someone to the site to verify <br />the situation. If fire is present, the Supervisor (or their designee) will contact the alarm <br />company (Bay Alarm Company) to confirm the alarm status. <br />6. The Supervisor will then initiate Evacuation Procedures (see section 6.0) Clear the <br />area of all personnel and visitors. <br />8. If able to be done safely; machine operators, maintenance, etc. shall attempt t <br />emergency shut -down of all equipment. I <br />9. The Cup Floor Shift Supervisor (or other designee) willl meet with the arriving <br />emergency responders to advise them of the situation and provide assistance as <br />needed. <br />Once official responders arrive, all control for the situation is turned over to official <br />emergency personnel (ie: Fire Captain, etc) <br />13 <br />
