Kennedy/Jenks Consultants <br /> Section 7: Protective Actions <br /> 7.1 Personnel Protective Equipment <br /> Field personnel will wear equipment to protect against the potential physical and chemical <br /> hazards which have been identified herein and those that become apparent in the field. Level D <br /> protection will be required at a minimum for field activities at the site. Level D personal <br /> protective equipment to be used will include: <br /> • ANSI-approved hard hat <br /> • Chemical-resistant gloves - disposable PVC or nitrile <br /> • Boots, steel toe and shank <br /> • Boot covers <br /> • Work clothes or Tyvek <br /> • ANSI-approved safety glasses (for drilling and construction activities) <br /> • Safety goggles or a face shield should be used when a foreseeable splash hazard exists <br /> • Disposable hearing protection (for drilling and other high-noise activities) <br /> Additional equipment will be readily available to upgrade to modified Level C protection, if <br /> necessary. This equipment includes: <br /> • Full-face or half-face air purifying respirator with high efficiency particulate/organic vapor <br /> cartridges <br /> • Chemical resistant gloves; inner glove - disposable PVC and outer glove - NBR/Nitrile <br /> • Boot covers <br /> • Boots, chemical resistant, steel toe and shank <br /> • Safety goggles or a face shield should be used when a foreseeable splash hazard exists <br /> The level of protection employed may be upgraded, as deemed necessary by the SSO or <br /> FSSO. <br /> If non-routine field activities are initiated, the level of protection will be specified in the activity- <br /> specific health and safety addenda. <br /> 7.2 Work Zones <br /> Work zones including designation of an Exclusion Zone, a Contamination Reduction Zone, and <br /> a Support Zone will be established for any field activity which requires Level C protection or <br /> greater. Work zones will be clearly marked in the field.
