CRS <br /> Results Report - Sod and Ground Water Investigation <br /> March 1996 (9647-0011) <br /> EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ` <br />' This report documents the methods of investigation, findings, and conclusions of the soil <br /> and ground water investigation conducted at 26500 Nowell Road, Thornton, California The <br /> environmental investigation was conducted by Fugro on behalf of Pamela Lopez <br /> The purpose of the investigation was to assess soil and ground water conditions at the <br /> location of a former 500-gallon-capacity underground storage tank (UST) used to store gasoline <br /> The UST was removed in October 1989 <br /> Tri-Valley Growers occupies the property located adjacent to and south of the subject <br /> property This site is a known Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) site It is Fugro's <br /> understanding that assessment activities have been conducted at this site since 1987 and that <br /> remediation activities (ground water pumping) were started in 1991 <br /> The scope of the soil and ground water investigation was limited to the advancement of <br /> five drill holes in the vicinity of the former UST Three of the drill holes were completed as <br /> ground water monitoring wells Soil and ground water samples were analyzed for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) <br /> The extent of soil contamination appears to be limited within the boundaries of the former <br /> UST pit The highest TPH-g concentrations were identified at a depth of 16 feet below grade <br /> surface (bgs) Relatively low levels of TPH-g were detected in the ground water samples <br /> rcollected from both the hydraulically upgradient well and the inferred downgradient well <br /> Benzene was not detected in any of the three ground water monitoring wells at or above <br /> California Department of Health Services (DHS) maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) <br /> Fugro recommends implementing a ground water monitoring program to identify changes <br /> in contaminant concentrations in ground water over a period of time <br /> 96470011396 ES-1 <br />
