Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Re: 1991 Second Quarter Report/Remediation System Start-up <br /> Activities, Tri-Valley Growers, 26200 Nowell Road, <br /> Thornton, CA <br /> C <br /> � <br /> Dear Mary: <br /> This letter report updates the activities at Tri-Valley Growers' <br /> Thornton plant (Figure 1) during the second quarter of 1991. <br /> Activities during the quarter included monitoring of groundwater, <br /> sampling for dissolved hydrocarbons from the five monitoring wells <br /> on site, start-up and operation of the remediation system, analysis <br /> ,._ of samples from the treatment system influent (well M14) and carbon <br /> fl.lter effluent (Figure 2). Remediation system operation began on <br /> May 13, 1991. <br /> F Groundwater monitoring was conducted in April and May (before and <br /> after system start-up). In comparison to previous groundwater <br /> elevation data wet--r table levels rose approximately .90 feet in <br /> April and dropped from .50 to 1.5 feet in May (Table 1). The <br /> ? groundwater elevation contour map for April (Figure 3) shows the <br /> c.irection of groundwater flow is in a southwesterly direction at a <br /> magnitude of 0.006 ft/ft. <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from five monitoring wells on <br /> June 13, 1991 after stabilization of pH, electrical conductivity <br /> (EC) and temperature (well purge logs, Attachment 1). Samples were <br /> analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and <br /> total.--petroleum-hydrocarbons -as -gasoline--(TPHG) -- by -EPA-methods _....._ <br /> 8020/8015.
