Soil and ground-water chemical testing of samples taken in the vicinity
of these storage tanks indicated that leakage of the gasoline tanks had
occurred. Since gasoline caused sail and ground water contamination was
I: revealed by chemical analysis, a site assessment of the extent of
r* contamination in soil and ground-water became necessary. Exceltech, Inc.
f, conducted a site investigation on behalf of Tri-Valley Growers and issued a
$ report dated November 9, 1987 entitled "Soil and Ground-water Investigation
for Tri-Valley Growers, Plant T" containing results and recommendations. The
report indicated that no petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was detected in
any of the three newly installed ground-water monitoring we!ls. It appeared
that the initial excavation appears to have removed much of the contamination.
" However, the northeasterly ground-water flow direction on-site raised the
possibility that the original contamination plume had moved in that direction.
Subsequent to review of the assessment report, the San ,Joaquin Local Health
District (S,ILHD) requested that an additional monitoring well be installed
__.down-gradient--(to Ahe-northeast). ----- -
