r d'
f '
X'
Tri-Valley Growers March 24, 1988
Project No, 1582G Page 3
sand was poured down the annulus to make the desired gravel pack. After the
sand had been placed, the remaining auger was removed. A bentonite seal was
placed and the hole was then grouted to one foot below the surfac.3 with neat
cement. The top of the well was set in a pre-cast concrete box which was then
surrounded by concrete to one inch above grade. The details of the well
construction are presented in the Monitoring Well Detail form included with
. this report.
WEI_I-DEVELOPMENT AND SAMIEI„IN
After the well was constructed, it was developed to improve the hydraulic
conductivity between the well and the natural water-bearing formation. Ten
well volumes of water were manually bailed from the well to remove residual
silts and clay left from the drilling operations. After development, the well
' was allowed to return to equalization prior to sampling, enabling Exceltech to
collect a representative water sample and to measure the thickness of any
floating product if present.
Prior to ground-water sampling, a water level measurement was made and the
u monitoring well was checked for the presence of free float;ng product with a
clear plastic bailer. The well was purged of at least four well casing volumes
of ground-water to assure that the sample was representative of formation
water. The sample was collected with a clean stainlass steel bailer and
_ transferred to the appropriate laboratory supplied bottles. Samples were
labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody form, and placed in an ice chest for
transport to a state-certified laboratory for analysis.
No floating product was observed in the monitoring well; however, product odor
was reported in the water sample taken from the well.
