This
work was conducted during March 2005 under a permit issued by EHD.
Laboratory results indicate that elevated concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel and total petroleum hydrocarbons as motor oil were
detected in the ground water grab sample from boring "SB-1 W", located in the
former underground storage tank (UST) pit. Low concentrations of TPH as
gasoline were also detected in the "SB-1 W" ground water grab sample. Total
petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel was detected in the ground water sample from
soil boring "SB-3W".
Since there is dissolved petroleum in the ground water at this site, further
investigation is required.
EHD recommends that at least three monitoring wells be installed with a
screened interval that intersects the first ground water. Samples are to be
collected quarterly to verify ground water petroleum concentrations and
determine the migratory rate and direction of the petroleum ground water plume.
A work plan for further investigation is to be submitted to EHD by
December 5, 2005.
Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel and as motor oil were detected in soil
samples from 25 and 35 feet below ground surface (' bgs) in soil boring "SB-1
The deepest soil sample for SB-1 (40' bgs) indicated that petroleum
hydrocarbons were not present at this depth.
