Lao
1w 18 November 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0483
'A
BTEX and fuel oxygenates were reported in any of the soil samples analyzed. The laboratory
- analytical report is presented in Appendix C.
5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Conclusions and recommendations for the Preliminary Site Assessment are presented below.
5.1. CONCLUSIONS
. On the basis of the information reviewed and collected during this investigation, AGE concludes:
• Soil samples collected at 20 and 30 feet bsg from the four soil probe borings did not contain
detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons.
• Petroleum hydrocarbon discoloration, odor or OVM readings above background levels were
not observed in any soil samples collected from the soil probe borings.
• Petroleum hydrocarbon impacts in soil previously identified during the UST.removal
activities appear to be localized to soil directly beneath the former USTs and former
dispenser at approximately 6 to 15 feet bsg. Fine-grained deposits consisting of clayey silt,
6w silt, sandy silt, and silty sand exist at the site from ground surface to approximately 25 feet
bsg. These fine-grained deposits may have limited the extent of migration of any petroleum
hydrocarbon release. Additionally, the major portion of petroleum impacted soil
immediately surrounding the USTs may have been removed during the UST excavation and
disposal activities.
Ground water was not encountered in any of the soil probe borings.
Petroleum hydrocarbon impacts previously identified at the site do not appear to present a
threat to ground water.
• It is unlikely that remediation of any impacted soil remaining at the site would be warranted
or cost effective.
5.2. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data reviewed and collected at the site,AGE recommends:
4.
• The site should be considered for closure.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
